Regional Coordinator for Northern Iraq

the Regional Coordinator for Northern Iraq is based at MH Regional Office in Erbil. Elise is responsible for updating Mercy Hands (MH) partners on the progress of ongoing projects, ensuring efficient, instant and constant information exchange between MH mission in Iraq and international stakeholders in Erbil, representing MH in regular and ad hoc coordination meetings, UN Cluster meetings, and working groups, and coordinating with program directors regarding available funding opportunities and assisting them in proposal writing, developing indicators, and conducting research.

Educational background:

  • Humanitarian Programme Management Master’s degree (Bioforce Institute, Lyon, France)
  • Social Worker degree (Social Work Regional Institute, Nancy, France)

Through these courses Elise developed skills on project methodology, geopolitics, international right, financial management, funding and donors, human resources management… Consequently, she got in-depth knowledges of NGOs sector and humanitarian field.

Professional experience:

Elise worked for five years in the education and child protection area. In France, she autonomously implemented and supervised educative projects in a foster care department. This position required an important partnership with relevant stakeholders and judicial authorities, as well as high reporting responsibilities in keeping with legal framework. In Mexico, Elise used to be an Academic Coordinator in a Child Protection Home for a local NGO (which provides 35 children victims of violence and abandon with assistance). She ensured the good implementation of activities and strengthened the NGO external representation.
