Capacity
Building of Communities Department Team in Mercy Hands LAIC reactivated a local society (Al- Zahra'a Society) which was formed spontaneously in Al- Zahra'a Complex in
Al- Rasheed Camp three years ago. Al- Zahra'a Society was registered
officially by few people’s form the complex's residents and it was left
without activating.
LAIC team arranged a plan that aims to build a civil society unit composed
of members from the complex's & the surrounding complexes' residents
(Residents are 4000 – 5000 persons). This is in a way to reach to a well
organized community that can lead itself & solve its problems. This will be
as follows:
1.
Creating volunteer members from the
complex's residents like the members of Al- Zahra'a Society.
2. LAIC will provide legal aid through Al-Zahra'a society & enable Al- Zahra'a Society members to participate in providing help to assist this society role inside the complex.
3. LAIC will make a training program to train Al- Zahra'a Society members to understand the aspects of the civil society and NGOs work, the principals of human rights, NGOs management, e-mailing and official correspondence, writing reports and proposals, writing and implementing projects, in addition to using computer & internet, & filing system.
4. Mercy Hands will provide Al- Zahra'a Society with stationery & will open an archive that will be run out by Al- Zahra'a Society to document its activities & common activities with LAIC.
5. Introducing Al- Zahra'a Society to the institutions, NGOs and the ministries that LAIC deals with to create a good relation between them.
6. Implementing an awareness campaign to define the civil society in cooperation with Al- Zahra'a Society inside the complex.
7. Achieving future projects between MH & Al- Zahra'a Society
Recently Mercy Hands provided this society with quantities of stationery and some equipments, in addition to that LAIC team had organized an archiving system for them ( please see attached photos) and in September/2006 LAIC team held a meeting that involved the manager of Al-Zahra'a Society and the manager of the humanitarian department in MoDM(Minstry of dispalced and migrants) , the purpose of this meeting was to make a direct connection between Al-Zahra'a society and MoDM and to help the manager of Al-Zahra'a society to make relations with the ministries and in presenting his society, MoDM was satisfied about this issue and very willing to cooperate with Al-Zahra'a society.
